Lots of people laugh when I say I am ‘Father Cathie’, or I get very quizzical looks. Occasionally, even hostility!

Lots of people don’t know what to call a female priest, minister, or pastor. Since I am an Episcopal priest, I use a clergy title – for me, it is ‘Father’.

I was prepared to lead an institution that felt much more solid than it was. This brings both sadness and strength.

I was well-prepared for the church of the 20th Century – and serving in the 21st!
